POH: Annual Charity Trip

This long-awaited summer event is finally open for application! If you wish to join us in this September for an exciting educational project, please take a minute to read the following details and most importantly, apply as soon as possible. We welcome students from all the UK universities with basic Mandarin communication skills.

Our objectives:
✈ To help children in less developed areas improve their English; and
✈ To facilitate a cultural exchange, whereby the children can learn from us and we can learn from their experiences too.

The details of the trip are as follows:

✈ Date of Departure: Sunday, 13 September 2015
✈ Date of Return: Saturday, 18 September 2015
✈ Length of Trip: 6 Days 5 Nights
✈ Location: Qingyuan, Guangdong Province (清遠 廣東省)
✈ Price: RMB 2,000 per person
✈ Application Deadline: Saturday, 25 July 2015 (23:59) 

This volunteering trip includes teaching English under our designed programme, visits to local families and the elderly. 

Prices include:
1) Transportation, meals^, accommodation* and bottled water throughout the trip;
2) Gifts for local families and ingredients for the meal at home visit;
3) Teaching materials;
4) Sightseeing activities; and
5) Two POH T-Shirts per participant.

^Meals:
✈All meals are included except for the dinner on the fifth day. This meal will be at your own expense where we will be spending our time at Qingyuan city centre.

*Accommodation:
✈ We will be spending four nights at a four-star hotel and one night at a three-star hotel.
✈ Participants will be paired up to stay in double rooms. If you wish to have a single room where extra fees apply, please indicate on the application form.

* We strongly advise participants to purchase their own traveling insurance before departure as it is not included in prices.

This trip has proven popular in recent years. In order to reserve a place, you are also required to pay a deposit of HKD 1,000 within 5 days of receiving our confirmation email. The details of the bank account will be included in the email upon your application. 

A place is only reserved upon our receipt of your deposit payment. 

A confirmation email will also be sent to you once we have received your deposit of HKD $1,000.

Pre-Departure Meeting:
✈ A pre-departure meeting will be held in early September, where we will give out pre-departure booklets and answer any questions about the trip. Participants are required to attend.
✈ Participants will have to pay RMB 2,000 on the spot as the fee of the trip
✈ Deposit will be refunded electronically once you have paid for the entire fee
